Are we spending way too much time surfing the internet?

In this day and age, social media has become the most potent “influencer”. People nowadays live in a constant state of FOMO, wherein they do not stop relying on social media for information. Whether it’s current news or the latest entertainment news; they mostly spend their time browsing and scrolling for any new data every minute of every hour.

Facebook has always been the favourite platform of netizens, not just for social networking but lately, it is used as a prominent channel by the e-commerce industry, it’s more of the same as what Instagram is doing right now. While, on the other side, Twitter will always be the topic/conversation starter – and we believe to be the standard platform for celebrities, politicians, and influencers, airing their opinions and all. With just a click of a button, it can create a massive impact.

A recent study by WeAreSocial in January 2020 shows that an average person in the UAE uses the internet for 07:03 hours. If you base it on a worldwide setting, the average person spends 06:43 hours per day. (Full Report)

Social media platforms are continually evolving, and new features and upgrades give users additional incentive to consume more content. Audience behaviour shifts drastically depending on their generation. For example, baby boomers and millennials use social media to consume information, voice their opinions, stay connected with their friends and family. Gen Z, on the other hand, uses social media for entertainment.
